  • Our April 18 webinar “Managing Food Safety When Handling Fresh Produce in Schools” was a terrific success. This was the first webinar we live-Tweeted from our @BeyondBreakfast Twitter account, and we were thrilled to find that the Twitterverse was following along with us. We will be live-Tweeting future webinars, so please follow us on Twitter and participate!
  • For those of you who were unable to join us on April 18, the Managing Food Safety When Handling Fresh Produce in Schools webinar has been archived, and is available for you to access. Our expert panel shared a wealth of important information on everything from training school staff to handle fresh produce to how to ensure vendors are following best practices for produce safety. Other topics included safe food procurement, staff training, challenges and strategies for safe handling, salad bars and school gardens, and resources for school food service staff including information (videos, fact sheets, and more) available online at the National Food Service Management Training Institute.
  • We will be holding a Peer2Peer Connect follow-up to our Produce/Food Safety webinar on Tuesday, May 1. Please join us for this informative, 60-minute Q-and-A session in which SNA members and non-members will connect and share ideas, resources, comments, and questions surrounding food safety and the handling of fresh produce in school food service. Online registration for this Peer2Peer Connect call is open, and we look forward to hearing from you!
