Media Planet Shines Spotlight on Breakfast

Is breakfast the best-kept secret in nutrition? Not for long! The benefits of breakfast are being touted by media outlets across the country, most recently through an eight-page insert appearing in the Chicago Sun-Times and its CROWN network papers–a total 450,000 circulation! You can find a full PDF version of the Breakfast insert online, and here are some of the highlights:

  • Page 7: An interview with SNA President Helen Phillips, in which she discusses the important role school breakfast plays in academic performance, and in fighting hunger.
  • Page 4: SNA Chef’s Table committee member, celebrity chef and National Geographic Fellow Barton Seaver on the importance of a nutritious breakfast. (Two recipes included!)
  • Page 6: Features on the importance of breakfast for kids and for adults, as well as information on why breakfast is as essential a “school supply” as paper and pencils.
