On the Calendar: Webinar Wednesdays in January 2012

Mark your calendar for Wednesday January 11, and register online now for the next in the School Nutrition Foundation’s Webinar Wednesday series titled “The New School Meal Patterns: What You Need to Know.”

The webinar is tentatively scheduled for January 11, pending final publication of the regulation. This School Nutrition Foundation webinar is being held in partnership with the School Nutrition Association, and the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA). Since the date of the webinar is tentative, and depends on the publication of the final rule, please note that registrants will be notified immediately of any date changes.

Since January 2011 school nutritional professionals have been eagerly awaiting the final regulations on the USDA-issued proposed meal patterns; patterns calling for more produce and whole grains, less sodium and calories in school meals. During this webinar members will learn what the final regulation entails, and how the new standards differ from current requirements.

On the panel for this important webinar are:

  • Moderator: Cindy Brooks of the School Nutrition Association Public Policy & Legislation Committee
  • Guest speaker: Dr. Janey Thornton, Ph.D, SNS, Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services at the USDA
