Each year, the School Nutrition Foundation presents the Kathleen Stitt Award to a graduate student or faculty member participating in the Child Nutrition Showcase at the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference (ANC). The $500 award prize is used to help defray travel expenses incurred to attend ANC.
We are pleased to introduce you to the 2012 Kathleen Stitt award winner: Monica Fowler, Fayette Public Schools, Lexington, KY. We stopped by Monica’s poster at the CN Showcase at ANC in Denver to ask her a few questions about her project, called “Connect the Dots.” Using a simple, color-coded system, Monica and her project partners have helped students learn the information they need to identify foods and assess the proper number of servings, as well as learn about portion sizes for foods.
Check out the video of our interview with Monica, as well as some still photos of her poster, below. Are you interested in applying for an SNF scholarship?
